HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY EVERYONE!
It’s that time of year again folks! Sure, it’s hot as the blazes outside but that doesn’t deter our determination to celebrate our nation, the good, ol’ USA! Everywhere, Old Glory is waving proudly and American is gearing up her annual Celebration. On Topsail Island the big question is “Where’s the party and the fireworks?”
If you live or are vacationing in the Topsail Island area this year, you are lucky. We have several celebrations from which to choose. So grab the family and head out to one of our great local parks and make this a Fourth to remember. Stay safe and have fun!
SURF CITY, JULY 3
The town of Surf City’s Independence Day Celebration will be held on July 3 at Soundside Park. A concert featuring Mark Roberts & Breeze will kick festivities off at 6 p.m. and a fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. Bring your chair or blanket, no coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Holly Ridge plans to hold its Fourth of July Four Town Fireworks Celebration at Holly Ridge Municipality Park. Entertainment will start at 6 p.m. preceding the fireworks. The Holly Ridge Municipal Park is located on Sound Road. There is plenty of room to spread out a blanket and summer picnic. There will also be inflatables, a band, games, and food vendors. The fireworks start around dark. For details call 329-7081.
DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON, RIVERFRONT PARK FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
Riverfront Park (N. Water St/Market St in downtown Wilmington)
The City of Wilmington’s 4th of July Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Join us for a celebration of our nation’s independence on N. Water Street and Riverfront Park beginning at 6:00 pm for food and musical entertainment brought to you by the City of Wilmington, WGNI 102.7 and WECT. Local WGNI radio personality & afternoon companion, Ray Wegner, will emcee the event with special music provided by WGNI 102.7 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 p.m.
Headlining this year’s event is the United States Air Force, Full Spectrum Rock Band out of Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA (as seen on Conan O’Brien), a five-piece electrifying, high energy “rock, pop & hip-hop” band consisting of Active Duty musicians assembled from areas throughout the U.S. Full Spectrum will take the stage from 7:30 pm – 9:00 p.m. For more information on Full Spectrum, visit www.facebook.com/FullSpectrumRocks/ and www.music.af.mil/Bands/US-Air-Force-Heritage-of-America-Band/
Fireworks will begin at 9:05 pm from a barge located at the convergence of the Cape Fear & Northeast Cape Fear Rivers, just north of the Battleship NC.

Onslow County Parks and Recreation will celebrate its 35th Annual Freedom Festival on July 4th, 2018. Come out for a day of fun activities for children, listen to music on two stages, browse and shop vendor booths, and enjoy tasty treats from a variety of food vendors. Jim Quick and the Coastline will kick off the main stage at 5 p.m. The event will culminate with the much-anticipated fireworks at 9 p.m
